Zenni Eyeglasses 2Zenni Eyeglasses 2

It took me most of my childhood to realize that I actually enjoy wearing spectacles. I have just ordered two new pairs, my fourth and fifth pairs this year, from zennioptical.com. The tartan pair are their super cheap $8 basics, and the larger brown frames (which I actually ordered in a different color, tortoiseshell) will be sunglasses at $15.

There is no way in hell I will ever pay $500 for a dress, a pair of shoes, and a bracelet. $494 before tax and shipping, to be precise. Not even if I got to star in some kind of strange high school theater production, or whatever is going on here.

What drew me to this look in their new catalogue was the fact that I already own it. And I paid $31 for it.

Their dress: $288

Their cute T-Strap heels: $138

Their hideously ugly plastic bracelet: $68

y dress is long out of the store, and my shoes were on clearance, but look what it took me 15 minutes to find.

Halter dress (no ruffle, but is the ruffle worth $238 to you?) $50

Cute shoes. Great color! $12.

Glass-is-better-than-plastic bracelet: $19.9

Total? $81.95. I know what I am buying.

Rocking the Kiri Shawl

June 26th, 2007

No idea why I look like I am full of rage. I am only half full of rage.

One ball Jojoland self striping laceweight. That’s half a mile of yarn

3.25 mm Knitpicks circular. I love the tips, hate the join.

17 repeats plus one border repeat, and I changed the border up a little. I probably had enough yarn for two more repeats but it had become a case of diminishing returns. About a six foot wingspan and could have blocked even bigger. It took me five weeks total to knit this shawl but I took two weeks completely off in the middle while taking my summer class. Not bad for three weeks of knitting.
