I am going on a diet

August 22nd, 2006

a yarn diet.

I have enough yarn for:

6 (that I can think of) sweaters for me.
2 pairs of adult socks
3+ pairs of baby socks
2 shawls (including one in progress)
1 big green sweater for Mr E (in progress)
2 baby sweaters
the rest of the big baby blanket

And I have an entire huge massive rubbermaid container of other yarn that I can not even remember what is in there. If I have so much yarn I forget about it, it is time to stop buying!

Yarn diet has been declared, until I pay off my credit card. I get a tiny break when I am 1/3 paid off, and another when I am 2/3s paid off for a reward. That is all.

No yarn. No fiber. No knitting needles unless I really need them to finish something, and not just because I want nicer ones than those I can find in two seconds. Also I have to go through and get rid of all the stuff in the Rubbermaid bin of mystery.

This is going to be tough.

A Study in Infidelity

August 5th, 2006

I am having trouble sticking to just one project.

I dyed some roving with icing dyes, and spun up a tiny (28 yard) skein

For Robbie, Jarrett from Rowan Vintage Knits

Some purple cabled socks, eventually a Christmas present. The yarn is from a long ago swap.

A simple hat made with the new knitpicks yarn Shamrock in Doyle. It is so plushy and soft, I can see myself using a ton of this for hats and sweaters. And it is a perfect match for my handpainted yarns scarf.

Suzette again from Rowan Vinatage Knits and the real reason I am having trouble sticking to one thing. I can not decide if I love or hate this sweater. There is something wrong with the colors and the way they are working together. And I am dreading the 15 billion ends to weave in.
